2025년 1월 8일부터 영국방문 규정이 변경됩니다.
기존에는 무비자로 최대 6개월 방문이 가능했지만, 내년 1월부터는 사전에 변경되는 영국방문비자 ETA(electronic travel authorisation)를 신청하고 email로 컨펌을 받으셔야 합니다.
영국 ETA 신청은 11월 27일부터 가능합니다. 그러므로, 내년 초 영국 출국 일정이 있으신 경우 사전에 ETA 신청해야 한다는 점 참고해주세요.
11월 27일부터 ETA 신청이 가능한 국가

They can travel to the UK with an ETA from 8 January 2025.

ETA가 필요없는 경우는?
- 이미 다른 영국비자를 가지고 있는 경우(study, work, live(settled or pre-settled status 포함)
- 영국 시민권, 아일랜드 시민권 소지자
- 영연방국가 시민권자 등
ETA 로 할 수 있는 일들
- 유효기간 : 최대 2년
- 1회 최대 6개월 동안 관광, 가족 또는 친구 방문, 비즈니스, 단기학업
- Creative worker visa concession은 최대 3개월 최대 가능
- PPE(permitted paid engagement) – 주로 공연 목적
- 영국 공항에서의 환승(border control 를 통과하지 않는 경우도 포함)
ETA 로 불가능한 일들
- 1회 6개월을 초과하는 체류
- paid or unpaid work 불가
- public funds(benefits) 신청 불가
- 연속적인 방문으로 단순 방문이 아닌 체류로 볼 수 있는 경우 입국 불가 결정을 받을 수 있음
- 결혼 목적
- civil partnership 등록
- give notice of marriage or civil partnership

신청 후 통상 3일 이내 결과 email을 받을 수 있습니다.
즉, 1~2일 내에 발급되는 경우도 있고, 3일을 초과하는 경우도 있습니다. 신청량에 따라서 케바케입니다.
가족이 함께 여행하는 경우 단체 발급이 가능한가요?
아닙니다. ETA는 1인당 하나씩 발급받으셔야 합니다. 미성년자도 마찬가지입니다.
그리고, Group 신청은 불가하므로, 반드시 individual로 각각 신청하셔야 합니다.
당장 내일 출국해야 하는데 ETA가 없어요ㅜㅜ
통상 3일 내에 최종 승인이 나지만, 급한 업무나 사정으로 인해서 1~2일 내에 영국으로 출국해야 하는 상황이라면, 일단 ETA 신청부터 하세요.

ETA 발급은 어떻게 확인할 수 있나요?
You will get an email confirming you have got an ETA. It will be linked to the passport you applied with.
Your ETA lasts for 2 years. You can travel to the UK as many times as you want during that time.
안내된 내용대로 email로 confirmation 이 전송되고, 소지한 여권에 자동 링크됩니다.
그리고, 이미 한 번 언급해드렸지만, ETA 기간은 2년입니다. 2년 내에는 여러 차례 영국 방문이 가능합니다.
단, 연속적으로 방문으로 인해서 혹시라도 입국심사관과의 대면 심사를 받게 될 경우 ‘임시 체류’가 아닌 ‘체류’로 판단하게 되면 입국 거절될 수도 있으므로 악용하지는 말아 주세요.
ETA 발급받은 여권을 분실했어요ㅜㅜ
ETA 와 연결된 여권을 분실하거나, 여권 유효기간이 종료된 경우에는 반드시 새로운 ETA 를 발급받으셔야 합니다.
